Marie Carmel has been an Occupational Therapist Registered for over 15 years. She holds a Master Degree in Occupational Therapy from Springfield College, MA, and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a focus on Community Health from Hunter College, City University of New York (CUNY). Following her graduation from Hunter College, she worked as a research assistant at the Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein Medical Center in the Bronx, NY, within the Family and Community Health Research Center. During her tenure at Montefiore, she became inspired by the collaborative efforts of an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, and nurses. This experience fueled her passion for occupational therapy, as a great platform to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

As an OTR, Marie Carmel has been devoted to helping her patients reengage in occupations that matter to them. She emphasizes client-centered and value-based therapy, exhibiting a keen interest in research-based and evidence-based practices. A member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) since 2004, she has served as a mentor and AOTA Clinical Instructor Level II Fieldwork for OT students preparing for the National Board Certification Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam.

In addition to her extensive experience, Marie Carmel has pursued advanced training and certifications in neuroplasticity techniques, interventions for stroke rehabilitation and recovery, spasticity management, and other neurological impairments. She is particularly enthusiastic about mental health practices and interventions focusing on Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care. Utilizing evidence-based functional cognitive assessments and models, she aims to understand the complex and dynamic interaction between each patient’s individualized needs and cognitive abilities, bridging a positive impact to challenging patients and their caregivers.

A notable achievement in Marie Carmel’s career includes the development of Alzheimer’s, Dementia Care Maintenance Program and Protocols guidelines for two inpatient settings in CO, in collaboration with speech therapist. Observing a lack of compassion in service delivery throughout her career, Marie Carmel founded AnneRose Occupational Therapy Services, LLC in 2019.
